FIFA 16 release date, price and new features

FIFA is the world’s most successful and famous football game, and FIFA 16 is the next-generation iteration of the game that is all set for release later this year. Despite being a dyed-in-the-wool Pro Evo fan I am excited about FIFA 16, and not just because it includes for the first time what can only be described as lady players.
On this post we explain when FIFA 16 will be released in the UK (and worldwide), how much it will cost, and some of the best new features.

FIFA 16 release date, price and new features

1.FIFA 16 release dates and pre-orders

The FIFA 16 release date is now official! Here in the UK you can get hold of EA’s new football game on September 25 2015. That is a few days after our American cousins get their soccer fix, but we had football long before they did. The full release schedule is the US and Canada on September 22, 2015, followed by more of South- and Central America, Australia, and most of Europe on September 24, 2015.
Huzzah! FIFA 16 comes to the UK on September 25, 2015. And the good people of Japan and Brazil have to wait until October 8 to get their hands on FIFA 16. Yes, it seems odd that Brazil gets a soccer game last of all. But it is hardly the worst thing that is happening at FIFA headquarters just now.
The good news is that you can pre-order now from various places. Certainly, there are FIFA 16 pre-order pages on Amazon UK – buy it here. Game UK is also offering FIFA 16 for pre-order. You can pre-order FIFA 16 from Zavvi, too. You can also buy FIFA 16 from

2.FIFA 16 playable demo release date

EA Sports often releases a playable demo of upcoming FIFA games, and there is no reason why this year shouldn’t see something similar. If you are an Xbox One or PS4 user you can expect to see some form of FIFA 16 demo available to download and play in early September.

3.FIFA 16 available platforms

FIFA 16 will be made available for PS4 and Xbox One, as well as PS3 and Xbox 360. And there will be a PC version. In time EA may port the game to mobile- and tablet devices, but those are the major players in the FIFA 16 world. So long, Nintendo suckers.

4.FIFA 16 UK price

The current Amazon and Game pre-order prices are our best guess here, but we should point out that these prices represent only the best guess from the good people of Amazon and Game. (If you pre-order and the release price is cheaper, both will refund the difference.)
So, expect to pay £45 for FIFA 16 on your Xbox One and PS4. The price drops to £40 for PS3 and Xbox 360 – which may be another reason for sticking with or even purchasing a previous generation console. Drop down to the PC version of FIFA 16 and the price being quoted is £30 for a game DVD.

5.New features in FIFA 16

The big news is that this year’s update of FIFA will include… gasp… FEMALE PLAYERS. Not such a radical move, you would think, but it caused great consternation when it was revealed that FIFA 16 will include some international teams from the women’s game. About time too.
FIFA 16 features 12 Women’s National Teams for the first time in franchise history and also include game modes Match Day, an Offline Tournament, and Online Friendly Matches.
